Create Salesforce Case and Notify in Slack

In this automation, Salesforce and Slack are integrated to send messages to the Slack channel by creating a case in Salesforce.

How it works

  1. Create a case in Salesforce.

  2. Send the message to the Slack channel.

  3. Provide the details, and the message will be posted on the Slack channel, mentioned in the Salesforce such as account id, description, priority, status, subject, and owner id.

Following are the steps that will help to configure the automation:

Steps to configure

  1. Click on the Salesforce create a case, and the below form will appear on the screen.

  2. Create an OAuth2.0 Salesforce connection using https://sappersoftware.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SD/pages/63602585 template or use the pre-defined connection.

  3. Now, add “create case” from the action section. An action appear on the home page, of the Salesforce account in the chatter tab. It’s recorded in chatter groups, and on record detail pages. It’s just as object record pages have page layouts that can be customized, actions have action layouts that can be customized.

  4. Provide the account id. An account id in salesforce can be explain as an identification name or code associated with Salesforce account. You can know a record's id by going to the record's detail page, and take a look at its link in the browser. Salesforce account Id's are created in a alphanumeric mode, that is it is a combination of numbers and characters.

  5. fill the status field. A status categories, allow you to use custom status values while maintaining a consistent work classification for tracking, reporting, and business process management in the Salesforce. You can add the status based on your requirements.

  6. Provide a subject. The subjects filed helps to organize and sort the tasks based on the role of the Salesforce tasks. you can add the details to describe the task, without entering the type of task.

  7. Now add a priority. The core role of priority filed is to prioritize critical service appointments over less pressing work, when your team's availability is limited. You can assign dynamic priorities, such as values that increase as due dates approach. Optimization can consider priority values when it assigns appointments to time slots. This field also explains about the relative importance of an issue in relation to other issues for the team. The priority can be “high”, “medium”, and “low” based on your requirements. These priority are needed to mention in the name input field from the priority section.

  8. Add a description. The description field provide a statement that provide a details about the automation. It can be a combination of text and formula’s as per the requirement.

  9. Now add an owner id. The owner id is a convenient label under which you can identify applications. This id can be used as a search argument. In Salesforce, an owner id is describe the identification of the user who has been assigned to work this record. Salesforce owner Id's are created in a alphanumeric mode, that is it is a combination of numbers and characters.

  10. Now, click on save to save the automation.

  11. Start with clicking on Slack, and the below form will be appear on the screen.

  13. Add the “send message to channel” in the action section. An actions put your app front and center in Slack. Nestled under the ellipsis menu, apps with actions show up on every Slack message in a workspace.

  14. Now, fill the channel name, a channel's name lets people know about the purpose of the Slack channel. If the purpose of a channel changes at any point in time, it can be renamed by the user.

  15. Add a message as per the requirement. The message filed is useful for providing related information based on the automation.

  16. Now, save the configuration, and execute the automation.
